Susanna A. Kapourales, MD, FAAP is a dedicated general pediatrician, educator, and advocate for children’s health in West Virginia. She earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry, along with a minor in leadership studies, from the University of Richmond. She went on to receive her medical degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine, where she served as president of her class, demonstrating an early commitment to leadership and service.
Dr. Kapourales completed her pediatric residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida. In 2014, she returned home to West Virginia to serve the community that shaped her. Since 2017, she has been a valued member of the faculty at the Marshall University School of Medicine, practicing as a general pediatrician at the Teays Valley office. She is deeply committed to medical education, serving as the pediatric clerkship assistant director and as the physician assistant pediatric rotation coordinator, where she mentors and inspires the next generation of healthcare providers.
In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Kapourales has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Childhood Language Center in Charleston, West Virginia, supporting children with communication needs. Dr. Kapourales is passionate about advancing pediatric care, medical education, and advocacy for children and families across West Virginia, making her an excellent candidate for the West Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Board of Directors.
